MDDN 352, Project 1, Research

For this project we have to design a website across 3 different platforms, Desktop, Mobile and Tablet. The idea is 'Similar, but not identical'. So the aim is to make the websites that make the user be able to use the 3 website the same way but to not have to same exact layout for each of them.

I have done some research on websites which users can use on all 3 of those platforms

This is just a small layout of a random website. The layout of this website is the same in all 3 of the platforms. From what I am taking out of this is that the colours are the exact same through all 3. Also the pattern is the same which I will take into consideration.

This Website is for Omnis Holidays. Like the pervious website the colours are all the game. The Desktop and tablet seem to have the same layout with the tablet just having the width shrunk. The Mobile on the other hand seems to have most of the information taken away. From what i can see it looks like there are more tabs which could be where the rest of the stuff on the site has gone. It also doesnt have the image on it like the desktop and the tablet does.

This website is for Davidson College in the US. Like the wesite for Omnis Holidays the desktop and the tablet have a lot more information on the home page than the mobile device.
From what I can see from the mobile device it looks like it has several slides which I would assume the user swipes their fingers across the screen to get to the next slide. The main info which is on the home screen on the desktop and tablet I would guess is on the other slides.
The colours are all similar and all have the red bar across the top which has other tabs on it.

This site is for London Speech & Language Therapy. Unlike the pervious sites they dont use the same colour scheme along all 3 platforms. The only thing which seems to be the same among all 3 is the logo. In the mobile device the logo takes up about half of the screen compared to the others. In the mobile device everything seems to be a lot bigger than it actually needs to be. So this is something I should take into consideration when planning my websites.

This site is made for Barack Obamas Campinas in the united states. In these sites again the Desktop and Tablet are pretty much the same except there is different information in the tablet. In the mobile all the information under the picture of Obama in the desktop and tablet versions have gone and have been replaced with something else. Having the words 'FREE' in on the mobile version is something which immediately grabs my attention so having larger text with some words in my website in places where I really want people to look at could be something that I could do.

So from these examples it seems that the colour scheme has to be the same through all 3 of these platforms. The main thing in the site, whether it is an image or a title, has to be through all 3 and should be the biggest thing on the site. The Desktop and tablet are similar but not completely as there are a few differences between them. And with the mobile device tabs seem like a must to be able to have the same amount of information as the desktop and tablet. But these must be visible very easily so the user defiantly knows that there is more information which they can look at.
